Bentley Manufacturing & Machine Shop, Inc. is a contract job shop that opened in 1976. We were originally located in Hiawatha, Iowa, and moved to Marion, Iowa, in 1994 to accommodate our growing business. Our current facility, located at the East end of Marion in the Squaw Creek Industrial Park, includes an 11,000 square foot shop.

Today, Bentley Manufacturing & Machine Shop, Inc. is a family owned and operated business. At any given time, we employ 6-15 employees. We are an equal opportunity employer and our focus is on quality control.

Bentley Manufacturing specializes in metal and plastic turning, milling and drilling with both CNC and manual equipment. We create everything from prototypes to long run jobs. We provide services to the local area, as well as to extended areas throughout eastern and central Iowa and beyond.

We welcome any job from one piece to thousands of pieces. Bentley Manufacturing strives to provide all of our customers with quality parts and service.

Using our TL5 Mori Seiki Turning Machine, we can turn shafting up to 14" diameter and 72" long. We are able to turn castings, tubing and burned plate up to 17" diameter. We like to work with a tolerance of (+) or (-) .001, but can hold closer.

The SL2 Mori Seiki was purchased with an 11" hydraulic chuck and a 2 1/2" diameter capacity collet chuck. We have a full range of collets up to 2 1/2" diameter. The maximum swing is 13.7". The machine is good for running smaller parts of 1/2" and up in diameter. Turning small covers, shafts, spacers, washers and also thread the OD and ID of bolts and nuts.

With two Mori Seiki SL3 machines in the same work cell, we are able to produce long run jobs in half the time. Both are equipped with 8" - 3 jaw chucks. The maximum swing is 22.4".

Our 1999 VM25 Milltronics machining center can hold 2500 pounds. It has a 22hp spindle that can develope up to 30 hp. It has a 20 pocket tool changer. The RPM range is 0 to 4500 rpm. The table size is 24" x 54". The travel of the spindle is 24" while the Y travel is 24" and the X travel is 40". We can pull up to 1 1/2" NC taps.

A 1995 Milltronics Partner 6J has increased our milling and drilling capacity immensely. The table size is 20 x 45 and can hold 1500 lbs. A 15 hp spindle can accommodate 12 tool changes. The RPM range of 0 to 3500 enables us to drill and tap on the same operation. This machine has been a great addition with its milling ability.

About Dan Bentley, Owner

Dan Bentley, owner and founder of Bentley Manufacturing and Machine Shop, Inc. is an active member of the community and is committed to the education of local high school and college students.

He is an active with the Linn-Mar Robotics Team and has been a member of the Xavier Foundation for over 12 years. Dan has, also, been on the technical Advisory Board for Indian Hills and Kirkwood Community College Machine Shops for over 12 years.

Dan is a member of the Workforce Development ECI Board.

He has been a participant in Mission Trips to Kentucky and Louisiana.
